Holly Class is the home of the oldest children in the school where they are expected to challenge their own thinking and relish the responsibility of being our leading role-models.
I love being a teacher.
I have got to know hundreds of lovely children over the years and truly believe that every child is a star…it is my job to enable each one to shine.
My best time of year is the whole-school play in the summer where we go to the beautiful thatched Ellen Terry Theatre and bring a production to life.
I am passionate about the Creative Arts and enjoy filling our curriculum with lots of opportunities for exciting learning.
I’ve been a teaching assistant for fourteen years, the past seven being at Rolvenden. I have worked as a class TA in Key Stages 1 and 2 and also as a 1:1 support assistant. Over the years I have accumulated a degree of expertise in children’s learning and development with a special interest in speech, language and understanding.
I currently work in Holly Class with years 5 and 6. This can at times be challenging, but at the same time very rewarding.
I am also responsible for running the School Council and helping with the restoration of the Library.
I started at Rolvenden in 2016, as a teaching assistant, supporting those with additional needs to provide the best learning experience for the individual. Rolvenden ensures all children feel welcome and have great opportunities to shine.
Since joining the school in 2005 I have had the pleasure of teaching all year groups in some capacity. The keenness to learn is as evident and strong in year 6 as it is when the children join us as 4 year olds and it is such a joy to see them developing in confidence and ability in so many areas of their young lives.
Getting to know each child and family well and sharing all the extra-curricular activities with the Rolvenden ‘family’ is what makes this school so very special.
Each class follows their own topic through which most of the National Curriculum subjects are taught. We have selected topics to stimulate and inspire our children, allowing them to work effectively, independently and collaboratively. Topic Titles could be: Tipis, Tomahawks and Totem Poles, Jack Frost, School of Rock or Fire, Fire! Click below to see the termly newsletters which add a little more detail of what the topic entails.
